Anita, my favourite! As many of you will know, Anita has been my wonderful assistant for these last few very busy months. I couldn’t have done it without her. Anita and I first met at CanIL, the Canada Institute of Linguistics, where she was working and I serve on the board – I was immediately struck by Anita’s personality and skillset, so when the opportunity came up to hire her I did!
In an interesting plot twist, CanIL have realized (very intelligently) they need her back, and so when she talked to me about it I didn’t hesitate to encourage her to accept their offer. CanIL holds a special place in Anita’s heart, and in mine, so I’m very happy to see her pursue her passion there again, alongside her husband Randy, who serves there as a professor.
