Advocate Agent Anniversary

It’s been one year since I had the incredible opportunity to speak at Inman Connect in San Francisco and I’m blown away by the response the talk continues to receive. With 4,500 in attendance on the day and over 10,000 views since, I continue to receive feedback that other real estate professionals are looking to utilize their businesses to advocate for others. If you’ve never seen the talk before, you can watch the video.

In all honestly, it’s been very difficult to continue to keep up the advocacy work as the business has grown, and it’s concerned me at times. New Hope Community Services continue to weight on my heart, and early in November we will be hosting the second annual ‘Realtor Monopoly’ fundraiser for them. Last year’s event can be seen here – https://davidsmithhomes.ca/2018/01/12/realtor-monopoly-huge-success/ I’m also in talks about another fundraiser for them early in the New Year. There are other plans in the works too to ensure advocacy remains at the heart of all that we do.

Creative Retreat

Many of you have met Jeremy Pue, my partner in crime for media creation. Building our respective businesses together has been one of the most enjoyable elements of this real estate rocket ride. To see a little of our recent retreat, and hear the story of how our partnership began, enjoy the video below:

Now You Know…

Well, now you know, and I couldn’t be more excited. Lindsay’s already brought so much to the team and I truly believe she’s going to bring a lot to the experience you’ve all come to expect.

Make sure to check out the upcoming events below, they should be great fun and we’re really looking forward to catching up with each of you – please make sure to RSVP. There’s also a tonne of information about the market, as we’re definitely experiencing a bit of a shift.

As always, if you have questions about real estate, or know of anyone looking to buy, sell, or invest, please don’t hesitate to reach out.

Hollywood Radio Interview

I had the pleasure this month of speaking about David Smith Homes with Cat Smith on her radio show, airing on KSVY Sonoma – Hollywood & West Napa, about the way David Smith Homes is being built around ‘people over property, always.’

Anita’s Corner

Anita, my favourite! As many of you will know, Anita has been my wonderful assistant for these last few very busy months. I couldn’t have done it without her. Anita and I first met at CanIL, the Canada Institute of Linguistics, where she was working and I serve on the board – I was immediately struck by Anita’s personality and skillset, so when the opportunity came up to hire her I did!

In an interesting plot twist, CanIL have realized (very intelligently) they need her back, and so when she talked to me about it I didn’t hesitate to encourage her to accept their offer. CanIL holds a special place in Anita’s heart, and in mine, so I’m very happy to see her pursue her passion there again, alongside her husband Randy, who serves there as a professor.

The admin@davidsmithhomes.ca email address still works, and perhaps next month’s news has something to do with our next steps… you’ll find out next month!

Anita’s Corner

Last week, I had the opportunity to represent David and Royal LePage Wolstencroft at an awards ceremony at a local high school. David won the brokerage professionalism award for last year, and Royal LePage provides a scholarship for a deserving graduating student. I was able to present this award to a young lady who was poised, gracious and appreciative of this gift towards her future. What a delight it was to be a part of something that is directly impacting the lives of the young adults in our communities and building up the next generation. This is the beauty of having agents and brokerages that care about the neighbourhoods that they serve, and more importantly the people that call these neighbourhoods home.
