The One Where I Cry A Bit… A Huge Milestone!

You really are the best! I’ll warn you now, there are a lot of exclamation points in this post and even some tears, but I’m so genuinely excited to share this news, so please forgive me! Hopefully you can make it to the end, because that’s where the huge milestone is.

As you all know by now we participated in the Coldest Night of The Year walk for Cloverdale Community Kitchen on a snowy Saturday night a couple of weeks ago. An amazing team of over 20, including 11 kids, represented the David Smith Homes Group so well. This was a difference maker for us this year, having so many of you join the team on the evening and also in the fundraising efforts. It was particularly enjoyable to see the kids exposed to the great work of the kitchen.

Beyond those that participated on the team, so many of you supported us by donating and sharing the opportunity to donate! The fundraising was an incredible success, see the results below:

David – $3,300 (110% of Goal)

Team – $5,500 (110% of Goal)

Location – $276,387 (110% of Goal)

Isn’t that amazing how ALL of the goals were exceeded by 10%?! We are part of a wonderfully generous community! You are part of a wonderfully generous community!

Another incredible statistic is that of the 656 walkers for the Cloverdale Community Kitchen David’s fundraising had the MOST individual donations, with 32 of you responding to the request! That led to me, David, feeling like the MOST supported walker out there!

Another incredible statistic is that of the 21 Royal LePage Teams across Canada, our team were #1 by a long shot, and once again David’s personal fundraising was #1, twice that of the second highest fundraiser.

Almost everyone in real estate has a competitive streak, it’s ironic that to participate in the Coldest Night of The Year we skipped the ‘Medallion Gala,’ celebrating the Top 10% of Realtors in the Fraser Valley – we would MUCH rather celebrate these kinds of statistics than just announce another real estate award.

Speaking candidly, the last three years were very challenging for us in our non-profit involvement. With Coldest Night of The Year not being able to gather on site it felt more fragmented, and other events we’d usually host also had to be cancelled, like Realtor Monopoly for New Hope Community Services. Strategically supporting non-profits that genuinely make a difference in people’s lives locally and globally, is a big part of our ‘People Over Property, Always.’ philosophy. The loss of some of those opportunities was upsetting.

Now that we’re BACK doing this kind of work together it’s such a personal encouragement. We’ve always wanted to build this company around helping others, and using our influence for good, and you truly helped us do that with the Coldest Night of The Year!

You also helped us achieve another incredible milestone. David Smith Homes Group has now fundraised over $100,000 for our non-profit partners, including New Hope Community Services, Life App Home Transformations, Cloverdale Community Kitchen, and Pacific Coast Counselling. That doesn’t even include my giving, that’s your giving!

See how much that realization impacted me when I tried to share on social media recently below, admittedly there may have been a few tears.

Thank you, from the bottom of my heart!

Gratefully,
David & The Team
